March 9, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Myrtle Beach FC as its newest expansion club ahead of the Spring Season.
Based in Myrtle Beach, SC, Myrtle Beach Football Club will begin UPSL play in the Southeast Conference Mid-Atlantic South Division. The club will host its home games at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium (705 33rd Ave. North, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577).
Joseph A. Barrientos Fierros is the Owner and President of Myrtle Beach Football Club. Julio Cesar Rambo de Leon is the Head Coach. Carlos Flores is the Assistant Coach.
UPSL Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are pleased to welcome Myrtle Beach Football Club into the UPSL. It is an exciting time for soccer in South Carolina and we are expecting to see many talented players on the field. Coach De Leon has a very rich soccer history, and we are sure he will bring the best to the league."
Fierros is currently pursuing a Business Management degree at University of South Carolina. He was a four-year varsity player in high school and was selected for South Carolina's Olympic Development Program (ODP) in 2015.
De Leon is a retired professional player and former member of the Honduras Men's National Team from 1999-2011, participating at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
"Our club decided to play in the UPSL Division I because we wanted to compete in a league that is competitive, and one that provides the proper guidance for players to develop the best of their abilities on and off the soccer field," Fierros said.
Games are scheduled to begin May 1. The team will announce its fixture calendar in the coming weeks.
