Stars Blast Ginga Atlanta Into UPSL Championship Game At Silverbacks Stadium

March 5, 2021 - Atlanta, GA - Hosts of this season's UPSL National Finals, Ginga Atlanta made sure the crowd went home happy while securing its place in the Championship Game.

Welder Barros Castro scored two goals, and Jeffrey Otoo blasted in the eventual game-winner as Ginga Atlanta held on to a 3-2 victory over Brockton FC United in a UPSL National Semifinal at Silverbacks Stadium.

Ginga Atlanta (20-0-0 overall) moves on to play Olympians FC in the UPSL National Championship Game at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday.

But the home team fell behind in the 7th minute on Friday night after conceding a penalty scored by Brockton FC United's Antonio Correia.

Ginga Atlanta, the UPSL Southeast Region champions, soon regained control of possession through midfield and Castro ran on to a through ball and toe-poked an equalizer past Benvindo Barros to make it 1-1 in the 30th minute.

The game took a turn shortly thereafter when a Ginga Atlanta received a red card for an apparent kick-out in the 35th minute, and the home team was forced to play with 10 men.

Ginga Atlanta maintained a high level of possession into the second half, however, and took a 2-1 lead in the 56th minute when Deon McCaulay dished to Castro for the easy goal.

Now playing on the front foot, Ginga pushed forward and got a third goal in the 70th minute when Otoo, from the top of the top of the area, one-timed a bouncing ball into the back of the net.

Brockton FC United (12-1-2) was unable to find a goal from open play but scored again in the 73rd minute when Correia converted a second penalty.

Brockton FC United will play Capital City SC in the UPSL National Third Place Game at 12 p.m. ET on Sunday.
