UPSL Welcomes Panthers United FC to Central Conference

Houston, TX based Club Joins South Division for 2020 Spring Season

June 24, 2020 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to welcome Panthers United FC as its newest Division II member.

Based in Houston, TX, Panthers United FC begins UPSL play in the 2020 Spring Season as part of the Central Conference South Division II. The club hosts its UPSL home games at El River Park Soccer League (14211 Reeveston Road, Houston TX 77039) in compliance with UPSL National Division I standards.

UPSL Central Conference Manager Matt Kahla said, "Roger Galo has worked very hard to get Panthers United FC up and running and we're pleased to announce the club as a new member of the Central Conference South Division II. His club in Houston has all the tools to make a run this season to promote into Division I and I look forward to watching his club's continued growth into the future."

The Owner and Head Coach of Panthers United FC, Galo is a former professional footballer, last playing for Houston Hurricanes (USL) and Alianza FC (El Salvador). He currently owns and operates El River Park Soccer League, a thriving amateur 7v7 league in Houston.

"We are choosing to play in the UPSL for Panthers United FC because we want to acquire a national level of recognition for our players and expose them to a higher competition level," Galo said.

Davis Mendez is Assistant Coach of Panthers United FC.

Panthers United FC opened its inaugural season with a 3-2 victory over Almeyda FC II on Saturday, June 20. The club plays CRUSH FC at St. Thomas Episcopal School (4900 Jackwood St., Houston, TX 77096) at 7 p.m. CST on Saturday, June 27.

Panthers United FC is an American Soccer club currently based in Houston, TX, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Panthers United FC will play in the UPSL's Central Conference South Division.

Panthers United FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).

The UPSL was formed in 2011 and currently includes more than 300 teams nationwide. The UPSL is the largest Pro Development League in North America. Each UPSL team is individually owned and operated.

UPSL teams are eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Rounds through the league's affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
