Published Nov 8, 2019

November 6, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is excited to announce the Monterey County Soccer Club Jaguars as a new member kicking off the 2020 Spring Season.

Based in Salinas (Calif.), Monterey County SC is a registered non-profit organization in the State of California, and will begin UPSL play in the Western Conference Wild West Division. The team will play its home games at Alisal High School (777 Williams Road, Salinas, CA 93905) in compliance with UPSL's National Standards.

United Premier Soccer League Wild West Division Manager Nick Arellano said, "We're pleased to welcome Monterey County Soccer Club to the UPSL Western Conference Wild West Division. Monterey County SC is a well-run organization, and they've chosen to add a top-tier UPSL squad to their over structure. The UPSL Wild West Division is stronger and more competitive with the addition of Monterey County SC, and we wish them well in preparation for the 2020 Spring Season."

Monterey County SC Jaguars Owner and General Manager Jorge Rojas said, "We've had friendlies against other national clubs for years and have done well. I think our club's structure meshes well with the UPSL's vision for growth. We took our time with our approach into taking the next step, but now we are ready for the UPSL's 2020 Spring Season. I wanted to make sure it was well-coordinated and that we had the right people on board before saying "Let's go."

Rojas currently serves as a Salinas Union School District Board Trustee, and volunteers with a number of local veterans organizations.

LT Michael "Mic" Tomsic (U.S. Navy) serves as Club Director and Player Manager for Monterey County SC. Tomsic previously played with Real San Jose (UPSL), and has been with Monterey County SC since 2017.

"I'm excited to be a part of something big for the community here in the Monterey County. Soccer has been a part of my life since I was a kid and have always sought the highest level of play. I knew that Monterey County could have a team. There is so much talent here, and it was a shame that they could not be showcased. Now there is a team, and I cannot wait for Monterey County SC  Jaguars to get started and to make some noise in the UPSL."

U.S. Army veteran Dr. Pablo Romero (ret.) serves on the Board of Directors for Monterey County SC. He will be Team Doctor for MCSC Jaguars. A former member of defunct former professional team Monterey Bay Jaguars (1995-'99), Dr. Romero works in different capacities on several boards in Monterey County, and brings a wealth of professional experience to the club.

A multiple-time CalNorth State Cup champion, Monterey County Soccer Club currently features competitive and recreational circuit teams and programs for boys and girls of all ages, servicing more than 5,000 players in the Salinas Valley and surrounding areas.

The club will soon announce its upcoming game schedule.
