October 22, 2019 – Los Angeles – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) Women's Division is pleased to announce Mike Silva as Northeast Conference Manager.

Silva joins the UPSL while in his concurrent role as President of New Jersey FC, a soccer club based in Elizabeth (N.J.).

United Premier Soccer League Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are very pleased to add Mike Silva as our Northeast Conference Women's Division Manager. Mike knows the New Jersey soccer community well, and he brings a lot of energy and passion for the growth of the women's game in the Northeast. We know the market for women's soccer in the Northeast is very strong, and we've had a great amount of interest and applications submitted from a number of teams. Obviously, the U.S. Women's National Team winning the World Cup has continued to spur the growth of the women's game, and we want to support that momentum. We wish Mike every success, and look forward to a long-term relationship."

Silva will focus on developing UPSL's tier structure in the Northeast, leading the way for further league expansion to the UPSL's Women's Division.

UPSL Women's Division Northeast Conference Manager Mike Silva said, "I'm excited to join the UPSL in this capacity, and have the opportunity to expand the women's game in the Northeast. The continued growth of the UPSL depends upon how hard we work, and how organized and professional we are because success is no accident. It's hard work."

Mike Silva is President and Head Coach of New Jersey FC. A native of Elizabeth (N.J.), Silva played at Cranford (N.J.)'s Union County College, and for a number of teams in the Garden State Soccer League (USASA).

"My life is complete with a ball at my feet, and I've always wanted my life to be about soccer. I knew that even if I didn't make it as a professional player then I would make my way as a professional within the game so that I can help others achieve their dreams," Silva said.

A native of Elizabeth (N.J.), Silva was a four-year varsity player at Elizabeth High School and trained in Portugal at SL Benfica's youth academy when he was a 15- and 16-year-old.
